Capstone Project

 

For my engineering capstone project, our team designed a vertical conveyer hydroponic system consisting of 9 trays for growing micro greens. The major benefits of the design were:

  • Automated watering and lighting

  • Optimized use of floor space and energy resources.

A PAR (Photosynthesis Activating Radiation) light source was used in the center of the the system and a water reservoir was placed at the bottom. By strategically timing the rotation of the trays, our design was able to automatically provide the optimal lighting and watering for growing microgreens.
